FAQs
How do I get to you in New Zealand?
We are in the corner of the world, and getting here can be daunting, but remember, most of your journey is easy, you just sit back, relax and arrive at the airport. Most international flights arrive in Auckland, from there, you will need to get a connecting flight to either Queenstown, Dunedin, Christchurch or Wellington, this will depend on the species you're hunting.
Harry travels from New Zealand to England twice a year, often via the U.S. and is well versed in navigating across the globe, get in touch and he can help find you suitable flights and dates.

What weather can I expect?
From February to July, New Zealand experiences a shift from late summer to mid-winter. February is warm and sunny, especially in the North Island. Autumn (March–May) brings cooler temperatures and you can expect intermittent rains. By June and July, winter sets in with cold, wet weather, and snow in the South Island's mountains.
What is the best time of year to hunt New Zealand?
March through July is the best time of year for hunting, the deer are all hard antlered (except Rusa, which are hard antlered from may) and there will be at least one species rutting at any given time during this period. September- January is the slower period, but this is a great time to think about fishing, both in mountain streams, and the ocean!
Can I bring my own rifle or bow?
It is easy for you to bring your bow or crossbow into New Zealand, but make sure you check with your airline on their restrictions first.
Rifles pose more difficulty to bring to New Zealand, while it is possible, the process must start 2 months before you intend to travel, and often the paper work only arrives in your email address hours before your flight. We recommend you use our rifles, all hunts include rifle hire and ammunition, we have a range of tried and true rifles with top quality optics, and suppressors.
If you would still like to bring your rifle, follow the link.

Do I need any licences for hunting or fishing?
New Zealand requires no licenses, fees or limited seasons for big game hunting. Once we know what species you’re interested in – we can help sort any permitting required.
A license is required for waterfowl hunting and fishing. A one week fishing or bird license costs about $20 USD. Ocean fishing is not licenced, but there are bag limits, as with inland fishing, and waterfowl.

I have physical limitations, can I still hunt in New Zealand?
We are equipped to take care of most hunters and their needs, we can hunt from our 4x4 vehicles, off easy walkable tracks. Hunting from a hide or tree stand is also an option. Contact Harry and we can be sure we are a suitable fit for you, and if not, we are happy to recommend an outfitter who is more suited to your needs.
What happens if I wound an animal?
If you draw blood from an animal, we consider it dead on its feet, and so full trophy cost must be paid.
Your guide will take the utmost care to ensure you are calm and capable of taking a clean ethical shot, but sometimes mistakes happen. We will endeavour to find any animal that has been wounded to ensure it is dispatched, and if the animal is found at a later date, you will be contacted in order for the European mount to make it home to you.

Can I take meat home with me?
Yes, most clients can take meat home with them, let Harry know before you arrive if you wish to do so. Butchery and packaging of meat is charged at a price per animal of $150-350 USD.
There can be obstacles to this such as: depending on where your home destination is, your travel time between freezers in NZ and home (your meat may thaw and become ruined during travel), your airlines restrictions.

What will happen to my trophy's after I leave?
Our team understand the importance of your trophies, and the value laying in them once they have been harvested. We take the utmost care to ensure all animals are well cared for.
Skins are caped, turned, salted and dried for export, skulls have all flesh removed, and the bone is treated with hydrogen peroxide. European mounts can be done on any animal also.
Once the trophies are dried/peroxided, a custom crate will be made to the minimal size possible to hold your trophies to ensure the freight doesn't cost more than necessary.
We recommend mounting your trophies in your home country, as it is usually more cost effective for you. We are happy to recommend some NZ taxidermists if you wish.
